Aurora’s Diamante is created by the oldest and most prestigious Italian fountain pen manufacturer, Aurora. This world’s most expensive pen contains 30 carats of diamonds and it’s the only pen in the world to have so many diamonds. Produced one a year, Aurora’s Diamante is topped with a polished cabochon diamond not faceted gem. On a solid platinum barrel almost two thousand DeBeers-certified 4 C gems are decorated. And don’t take the nib as ordinary because it is made up of 18kt gold. Price of this pen is not publicly available but it is assumed to be around US $1,470,600. Wow, that is expensive.
This pen was specifically designed to celebrate 100th year anniversary of Montblanc and Van Cleef & Arpels. This limited edition Mystery Masterpiece is a fascinating expression of the finest craftsmanship and exquisite jewelry. Only three editions of this expensive pen were made available and each featured Rubies, Sapphires or Emeralds.
Its 1st edition was presented in New York on February 8th, 2007 by the CEO’s of Montblanc and Van Cleef & Arpels – together!
Each pen has 840 diamonds and more than 20 carats of gemstones set in a Van Cleef & Arpels patented “Mystery Setting” that conceals the stone settings. A groove is made on the culet, the bottom face of the stone, which is then slid onto the threads of the lattice design so that the stones can be held in place side by side without any visible support.
The cap is crowned by a Montblanc star made of round diamonds while an exquisite butterfly in white gold set diamonds lies on the clip. The rhodium-plated solid gold nib has engraved on it: “One Hundred Years of Van Cleef & Arpels and Montblanc”. Price of this pen is US $730,000-according to reports.
